Dear Friends, This was my twenty-fifth year of teaching in an Old Order Mennonite setting and my first year of using Semple Math. I’m very impressed with the results. We struggled two years to teach Lisa number facts with no success. Lisa was stressed out and frustrated and naturally did not enjoy coming to school. My co-teacher and I found out about Semple Math and took the plunge. It was a challenge for me to re-route my brain after so many years of the conventional method but, our journey in to Semple Math has been fascinating, exciting and well worth it! Lisa is thriving and blooming. She’s relaxed and enjoying school. Her frustration has disappeared and acting up has ceased. Her parents are also extremely pleased and happy as Lisa’s behavior at home has also greatly improved. Lisa will be in third grade and ready for Level Four in Semple Math. Although only a beginning educator, I highly recommend Semple Math as a valuable program for students with learning differences. I taught the times songs and the Hands to a sixth grader who could not memorize the multiplication tables by rote. Guess what! After Semple Math came in to his life, he finally tasted success. Semple Math has been such a blessing to our daughter. As a parent homeschooling math I felt overwhelmed when I looked ahead to a page of multiplication as I didn’t feel like I understood the method or how to teach so my daughter would grasp it. (Note: A special Ed teacher had taught her the first two levels of Semple Math and I stepped in for Level Three not knowing anything about the program) As I read the teacher’s manual and followed the steps by step instructions it all fell in to placeso easily and I find it an easy transition that makes visual sense to Amy, while I am amazed at how numbers work in ways I never knew! For instance, in my school years 7 minus 2 was 5. I didn’t know that 2 had a friend 8 who added to the guy upstairs near the wall 7 equals 15 then 5 walks down and hangs on 2’s tail while 1 blows away, etc. Amazing! For a child who needs visual comprehension I find Semple Math fills the ticket. Mrs. Byler

Being a first year special education teacher has proved to be a blessing in my life. And thanks to Semple Math for making it simpler and easier with the unique techniques of your program. I am amazed time and again with your ways of adding, multiplying, etc. I am always eager to see how another new comprehension is introduced. All I can say is IT WORKS! I saw the lights of understanding go on in Jeffrey’s eyes as we were going over addition flashcards. He stopped in the middle of the poor zeros and exclaimed enthusiastically, “You GOT to teach the teacher to do it this way! It’s FUN! It’s EASY! You GOT to teach all the teachers to teach it this way!” Thanks for your effort to make this curriculum possible.
