Each lesson begins with a measurable objective and straightforward teaching activity that will allow your students to achieve the objective. The lesson also includes a ‘Special Problems’ segment that describes specific teaching strategies for learning problems experienced by math-disabled students. Numerous optional games, activities and teacher-made supplementary materials are also included. A special section called ‘Older Disabled Students’ explains procedures for adapting materials and teaching techniques to meet the needs of this difficult group. A ‘Rationale’ section with extra insight for the inquiring professional concludes each lesson.

The first twelve lessons include review of work from Levels One, Two and Three, but this manual can also be used with students who have not had Semple Math previously as long as they can add, subtract and multiply. You can select specific lessons just to work on division or other lessons just to work on fractions, decimals and percents.

Place Value Kit

“The Place Value Kit is a supplemental material for use with the Semple Math program. It is not a stand alone kit. The PVK is introduced during lesson 29 of Level One. The program continues to make use of the kit throughout all four levels. Each student should have their own Place Value Kit.”
